Stakeholders meeting “Maritime Spatial Planning perspectives in the Western coast of Latvia”

Baltic Environmental Forum is organising the stakeholders meeting “Maritime Spatial Planning perspectives in the Western coast of Latvia”, which is a part of the stakeholder involvement activities in the frame of BaltSeaPlan project. The meeting will be held in Pāvilosta, Latvia, on October 22, 2010.

This meeting is a next step in the process of developing the pilot maritime spatial plan for the project’s pilot territory – Western coast of Latvia. The aim of the meeting is to discuss different sea uses, interests, possible conflicts and solutions.

The main discussion topics:
  • information about the BaltSeaPlan project implementation so far, results, further tasks
  • and activities;
  • overview on important economic sectors – their current situation and development
  • perspectives;
  • information about the marine nature and heritage values;
  • sea uses and possible conflict situations – schematic display on the map;
  • discussions in working groups on possible solutions for intersectoral conflicts and balanced sea use.

Participants of the meeting: representatives from ministries and other competent authorities, local municipalities, NGOs as well as representatives from tourism, fishery and other maritime stakeholder groups.
